Larry gives talk at Istituto dei Studi Avanzati

Last night Larry gave his multi-media presentation "Cultural Production and Economic Renewal and Regeneration in Atlantic Canada: the Case of Cape Breton Island," which seemed to go over extremely well with the audience of profs and grad students here at the Residenza. The presentation concentrated on the songs and other cultural expressions about mining. A lively discussion ensued on the subject of why miners get so many songs written about them, but virtually nothing can be found about chartered accountants, tool and die makers and slaughterhouse workers.

Then we went to dinner with Prof. Luca Zan, of the Management Department at U Bologna, Prof. Katya Lindqvist of Växjö (don't even try to pronounce it!) University in Sweden and Sara Bonini Baraldi, of the GIOCA program at U. Bologna.
