Trip to Milan, we left Omri at school ... this trip

Lorenzo and Giuditta in a university quadrangle. Me in my a mode green coat. Everyone wears woolly scarves, despite temperatures in the mid-teens, and sun.

We took a two plus hour train trip north to Milano, to visit with some industrial relations specialists at Milan Bicocca University. It's a 10 year old university, and the campus looks surreal. But Milan is a city the size of Toronto, and a mix of old and new. Here are some shots.

This is the former site of the Pirelli Tire plant and the architects wanted the bldgs to fit right in!! In the photos: on left is the "bridge" between social sciences (sociology with 60 profs!!) on the right and God knows what on the left. A view of the back of the bldg is at bottom left. I took the shot on the right looking thru a wrought iron fence to a tall glass cereal box on campus.

Clockwise: cakes in the window of one of a dozen fancy shops; Lorenzo in front of the Galleria shopping centre; the Galleria, inside; a Hungarian artist did this sculpture bought by the city and placed in front of a small piazza setting off a 500 plus year old church. There is sculpture and fine public art throughout the city, courtesy of the Comune de Milano (city of Milan).
