Giuditta and the Tabaccheria

Here we are in front of our Residenza, with our Italian tutor, Valentina. We have a tutorial with her almost daily and it's really fun. Our Italian is getting better... At left, Larry in front of the the 5 storey Residenza which used to be the Galaxy Hotel . Our suites are on the 5th floor.

In the spanking new Mall near our apartment there is a newspaper shop, which mainly sells lottery tickets. Any of you who has received a postcard from me, look at the bottom and you'll see it's from the Edizione Cooperativa Tabaccai-- the coop of tobacco (basically lottery shops). So in one month, I have bought more than 60 postcards and francobolli (stamps) from this guy alone. But he's really mean. He has raised the price of postage. How can that be? Well, he and his brother argued in front of me how much it cost to send a card to Canada-- the guy shrugged and told me he could sell me an .80 stamp, but the card wouldn't get to Canada. Then today, buying another 10 cards, he and his wife upped the price from .20, to .25 to .30 Euros this week, and I can assure you, in this suburb I'm certain I am the only steady postcard purchaser...

So I am going to have to send Omri in -- maybe they will be fairer to him at least they won't bite his head off. Don't suggest I go to the post office. I did and asked for two stamps for Europe and two for Canada. The guy handed me the .65 stamps for Europe and said "mi scusi" and left his post. After 10 min. when he hadn't returned, I left him 1.30 Euro for the stamps and walked out.
