A wonderful soiree

A labour contact of Larry's recommended we get in touch with an expatriate Canadian who has been living and working in Bologna for almost 30 years. She invited us to her 1920s themed party, asking that men wear white shirts and women dress -- well like flappers. The hostess is a wonderful person who lives in a flat that looks as if it is from a wonderful European film. Her first floor flat is in the funky area near the university. At this party were a group of Dubliners, a British woman, an Australian, a large group of Italians, and a few Canadians. The costumes were delightful, the wine -- Italian champagne among others, plus food that was typically Italian party fare... A great live band and dancing was encouraged. The flat had 15 foot ceilings a great balcony facing the alley rather than the main street and many rooms, some with rococo furniture, tall bookshelves, and paintings and drawings everywhere. The atmosphere was just -- Italian, electric and fun. Here is a photo of Omri who was treated as a celebrity.

Omri spoke to these women, mainly in Italian and when I came by he introduced me as - "mi madre, la professoressa Giuditta che insegna le relazione industriali" then we switched to French, but I overheard him talking to many guests in Italian!
