This is the CGIL union headquarters on Via Marconi, note the flags and the friezes
On Giuditta's walk downtown she went by the labour temple and took photos of the friezes, the only remarkable part of a standard 50s building that houses the biggest labour federation. Note the archways which are the fifties' version of the old Bologna porticoes.

I also walked with Omri some of the way from the bus to his liceo. Here are some photos of him in the typical streetscape. He walks through the oldest and loveliest part of town.

Omri on Via Farini, note the porticos
Yesterday, Omri and I walked through the Navile Park by the old canal in the former industrial area near our flats. Omri runs here. This is sunset around 5.30 pm yesterday. The sun was oranger than the photo shows.
Larry and I took a walk in the north end, not far from the flat. There was an office of a party of the far left. Just outside of a public library is the notice board below, with a Democratic Party election sign (left) and Unità , the Democratic Party newspaper, (originally the organ of the Communist Party) pinned up for all to read. We read what we could...
Incongruous with the neighbourhood, there is a small metallic silo of a Best Western hotel in the north end
Below is a city bus -- and there are buses, streets and squares named after famous leftists and antifascists e.g. Antonio Gramsci, Karl Marx, Giacomo Matteotti. Coincidentally, the 11B Rosa Luxemburg (see below) travels from downtown near to our flat...

Wow! Looks like you guys are on one giant vacation!
Thanks for a wonderful postcard! The architecture and history look and sound marvelous. I am glad Omri has had a good start with the school. This will be one of those unforgettable experiences for all of you. What's the weather like?
